Death Stranding Isolations joins animated movie Mosquito and A24’s live-action movie based on Kojima Productions’ IP.
Newsbrief: Death Stranding Isolations (working title) is an anime series coming to Disney+ in 2027.
Announced at the Disney+ Originals Preview at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, the series is being spearheaded by E and H production, a Japanese animation studio founded in 2021 by former MAPPA director and animator Sunghoo Park.
Alongside E and H, staff includes Hideo Kojima as executive producer, Takayuki Sano as director, and Ilya Kuvshinov as original character designer. Isolations will tell a new story based on the Death Stranding universe.
"Somewhere in North America, just as Sam Bridges walks through the continent in order to save America, the someones are also trying to deal with their isolation in their own way. An old man trying to realize salvation through ways outside of the connection advocated by Bridges. A female warrior who tries to kickstart a world of constant fighting. A boy with a grudge against Bridges. A girl who embraces loneliness," reads the announcement. "On the precipice of the end of humanity and the world, their fates and hopes converge, as another story of Death Stranding begins."
The animated series joins Kojima Productions' big transmedia push, heralded by animated film Death Stranding: Mosquito, as well as A24's live-action adaptation. Isolations is a particular case, as Disney+ hasn't hosted many game adaptations yet, as opposed to the likes of Netflix with Arcane, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, and The Witcher, among others.
