Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser retires

Nintendo now only has one Bowser.

Newsbrief: Nintendo has announced that president and chief operating officer Doug Bowser is retiring from Nintendo of America. He will exit the company after December 31, 2025.

In an announcement, the company stated that Bowser would be succeeded by Devon Pritchard, formerly the company's executive vice president of revenue, marketing and consumer experience. Longtime Nintendo executive Satoru Shibata will cross the Pacific to join Nintendo of America as chief executive officer. He will maintain his role as managing executive officer and corporate director, member of the board at Nintendo HQ.

The company praised Bowser's time at the company and celebrated his efforts at "delivering on the promise of the Nintendo Switch system to change the way people play video games." It also celebrated his support for Nintendo's expansion into the world of licensed films and theme parks.

"Leading Nintendo of America has been the honor of a lifetime, and I am proud of what our team has accomplished in both business results and the experiences we’ve created for consumers," Bowser said in a statement where also he fondly recalled playing the original Donkey Kong. He praised Pritchard's leadership capabilities and said her promotion is "a testament to her strong performance and strategic contributions to the company’s growth."
